Repairs used mower

I bought a used Craftsman riding mower. the engine runs great ,,however, when I put it in gear and let out the clutch the thing takes off like its in 6th gear instead of 1st. anybody know what is wrong with it? this is a YT3000.

Gunna need a lot more information.
Could be any one of 13 different tractors made by 5 different companies sold as a YT 3000
In particular the make & model of the transmission.

Did they make these with a variable speed belt drive setup? Could be the variator (?) pulley is not changing ratio?
