Sounds like your machine does not have external reservior contailer shared with both sides, like they used to. Yes ?
Yes - one shared reservoir for both sides…and a shared oil cooler as well.

The Turf Tiger has a reservoir on the LH side above and rearward the wheel. The unit uses two BPD-10 pumps and two wheel motors. The oil cooler is behind the seat and in front of the engine. It can get clogged with dirt on the unseen side. Basically the only oil cooling is this radiator as the rest of the system is just surface heat radiation.

Brake cleaner

How about some good old fashioned engine degreaser and a scrub brush? I know you real mechanics want it done as fast as possible..... LOL

Personally I use a couple products to clean with air driven engine cleaning wand. One is Purple Power de-greaser and other can be a dangerous but is safe if you take the needed precautions. That one is 2 cycle fuel mix. I use the 2 mix when I have extra stubborn baked on grease that the Purple Power de-greaser can't cut through. A brush would help but there places that one can't reach easily.

Now I haven't read the brake cleaner ingredient list so I don't what is in it but may contain rubber damaging chemicals.

water in oil will cause foaming and overflow. So will overfilling or overheating.

Mine are all clean now. I just used my air hose with rubber hose extension, & 1/2" paint brush. No chemicals, DRY clean.. Easy as it is only 20 hours from BFN..

( to the OP, sorry for the sidetrack)...
