trouble with a ms 290 running

Here is a carb like you will find on an MS290, those red thingees are limiter caps that can be yanked out so you can adjust the carb better. But you don't want to adjust a carb to try and compensate for dirt/clogs, that will just toast a good saw.

You can remove the caps by threading a drywall screw in a tad and yanking...

ok I have it all apart and am going to put a kit in. i have removed everything except those red caps. I tried to blow thru all the orifices I could get to.where is the crud you are talking about located?I actually have an 029 but the carb is the same.

Remove both sides, and remove the spring/lever/needle like I did in the pics.

The passage under the needle to the screen on the other side is likely choked up, hold it to a light, then blow it out, then hold it up again.

well it still wont run. guess its either the carburetor or its not adjusted right.
