transmission problem

[ACF]

have a poulan pro 300x model pb19542lt , 96042003400. the mower move in forward but will not move backwards when the shifter is placed in the reverse position. have replaced the belt with factory belt still no reverse. the shifter area has no binding. the transmission is a dana d6800-1 from drawing looks like it is all gears inside casing. looking for suggestions as to what could be the problem, my gut tells me that the gear that allows it to go into reverse is not moving inside.

Similar to the Spicer and Peerless manual shift trans axle. Yep, it has gears inside and if you are getting no reverse, you have two options if you want to fix it. Remove and replace entire trans axle. Remove and open it up to see if it can be repaired.

It basically you are on your own service manual wise as the Peerless service manual is as useless as tits on a bore hog. It can be worn splines on a shaft but I never been in any further than input shaft and bearing replacement.

Reverse chain item 16 may of broke.
