I don't know about the cut or durability having never used one but the dealer by me has a few commercial grades in stock they seem like a great idea. I recommend to see if you could use it for a lengthy demo

Are you saying that some of the Timemasters at your dealer are commercial-grade?? Or are you saying that your dealer has some other commercial-grade Toro mowers?? Because the Timemasters are residential.

Hey Fanatic, check this out. It's called the Turfmaster.

Looks like the Timemaster but has a larger gas tank and a commercial engine along with other upgrades.

Anyone have or used a toro timemaster 30" walk behind? What do you think?

I purchased two 30" TimeMasters about 3 weeks ago from Proffitts in Amarillo, Texas.

Our house is in commercial building with large ground around it.
Both make the best cut you could ask for.

Pay attention: :mad::confused2::ashamed:

1. after their first use, we put them in the shop (10k ft) and woke up at about 3:00am to the smell of gas. One had completely drained the tank into the intake and HYDRAULIC LOCKED THE ENGINE, the remaining gas flowed onto the floor.

Dealership service person tells me that they have tried to get Toro to address the known problem with the carbs on this series of motors to no avail. Proffitts replaced the gas line, inserted a fuel filter and cut-off valve, and replaced the carb with one that apparently has a larger (deeper) float chamber. It runs like a clock. Service person expressed concerns about liabilities.

2. The #2 mower's transmission failed after about 2 hours of running - while going down a flat sidewalk. It was taken to the shop at 2 days old and not seen since.

Pay more attention:

3. As the mowers been in the shop now longer than I had it - I called to check on the status of the mower today. Proffitts (dealership) tells me that the replacement gearbox is due in their shop on 5/17/2013. TODAY IS 05/08. I'm waiting for a reply to my inquiry about replacing the mower or extending the warranty period.

Wow....it seems like you have had your share of problems with the mower!

OK, here's an update on my experience with the TimeMaster.

I purchased it the first week of July last year. It has been used quite a bit since then. I guess-ta-mate the total hours to be about 75.

1) I have noticed that it is hard to start when it's hot if it doesn't set for a while. Probably because there is no way to idle the engine before shut down. The engine is always running at operating speed. This causes gas to be drawn into the engine and probably floods it.

2) The grass we have has a lot of moisture in it, which makes mulching useless. All the grass collects under the deck. Even using the side discharge the stock blades were not sufficient.....not enough air movement. Toro does not offer different blades for this mower. I have found standard blades that fit with the proper adapter. These blades create much better air movement and blow the grass out the side discharge with very little build up under the deck. This made it the mower I expected it to be.

For the most part this has been a very good mower.

I recently bought a timemaster and wanted to know if anyone notices a squealing sound when engaging the personal pace? Mine makes a sound when engaging and I've also noticed that the mower doesn't go very fast when the personal pace bar is fully engaged. Something seems off. Anybody notice somethign similar?

The only squeal on mine is when the blades are first engaged. The personal pace is quiet and will go fast enough to make you run.

There should be very little free play in the personal pace handle before it starts to drive. It's very easy to adjust.
On the left side of the handle bar is a 7/16" nut that secures the cable. Loosen this nut and adjust the cable housing to the desired position to remove the extra free play.
