Tire chains are likely to be thought about at this time at year. They are expensive here in the UK and I feel they are just grossly overpriced.. A 10 M length of 6mm ( 1/4") plated chain from Toolstation is £19. and makes a set of chains as shown in the photos. NO welding, just cut and twist links. I have these on a STIGA Park mower when on wet slippery rough ground. the attachment is a 3 foot wide flail, or in U.S.A. (hammer knife) ... Fit chains tight with shackles or screw links onto deflated wheel then pump up. Perfect ... Chris.

Personally twist link chain would be better for the cross links.

Yes but I couldn't find any twisted link at the time.. The links I used were 1 1/2" X 1/4" and stuck out more than twisted link and made for a good grip.
