Ticks

Was working in my lawn this afternoon. This evening when I was taking my shower I found a tick on me. I was lucky seeing my daughter had a tick remover and she removed it for me. Has ticks been a problem for anyone and if so what do you do about them? How do you remove them?

My yard was full of ticks. Would get them on me just walking to the truck. Got some chickens they eat ticks and other bugs and are good for the lawn. Just let them run around the yard.

You can be creative getting ticks off. My favorite is rubbing alcahol or using a lighter

I usually burn em off with my cigarette, but not everyone smokes so, matches or rubbing alcohol.

Nasty, and watch out for large red rings around the bite...possible deer tick disease. They are easy to break off leaving the head in you. Dogs can come back from a run loaded. Twisting and pulling seems best. I have never had luck with burning them out.

For dogs use electricity. I've used a 9v battery and 2 alligator clips college circuit on tick won't hurt dog and use tweezers to removed stunned or dead creature

I was looking on EBay and see there are many different styles of tick removing tools.

Def try to get rid of them and use whatever repellent you can find. Lyme disease is bad I've heard. Fleas are a big problem here. And mosquitos

That would be nice also. This is the first time I ever had a problem with ticks. I am thinking they were around my fire wool pile because there were a lot of mice nest built into the stacked wood. I store my fire wood outdoors. This has been a hard and long winter with being last week we had snow yet and I still had the wood fire going.
