That complex electronic circuitry is why most insurance companies now automatically total most cars that have gotten water in the passenger or engine compartments. That and roof damage. My son works for a company that liquidates them for insurance companies. I'm thinking of getting this Escalade and fixing it up. What do you think?

Wonder how many vehicles were declared "TOTALED" in Houston, after the major flooding last year, and how many were grabbed by unscrupulous used car dealers at auctions to be pawned off to some un-knowing folks ..???

After Hurricane Ike flooded the area in 2008, flood totaled cars and trucks were sold thru auctions in Minnesota.
Then, buyers would drive up there from south of the border to purchase them and tow home.
I remember numerous tandems cruising down I-45 headin' south...........

I have seen them restore worse..........
It'll only cost ya about 10x what it is worth.

My son spend 4 months in Texas after Hurricane Harvey. He said most of the cars were going overseas. They get salvage titles that reflect the damage here but I guess it gets lost in the translation when they go overseas. The ones to watch out for are the cars that never make it into the system, the older paid-off cars. If it's a lease or new car it's going to have a comprehensive policy to cover it. A lot of people drop the comprehensive on older vehicles, so they can't put in a claim for it. So just clean it up the best they can and sell to some sucker.
