Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

Roger,
The engine swap went surprising easy even for me. Way too easy and I kept thinking something was not going to work.
Pulled the blades off the old mower and un bolted the four bolts holding the engine to the deck, pulled the engine off and set aside. Removed blade from "new" engine and unbolted the three mounting bolts, lifted engine off and set on brush mower. tilted the mower up and got the bolts started and ran them in with a airgun. Hardest part was moving the control cable over across the engine but with some help from a set of needle nose pliers I got her done. The output shaft on the new engine is longer then the old one so the blade sits closer to the ground, with the deck set as high as it will go the blade tip measured 3 inches from the ground. That will (should) work for what I need it for. As both mowers are 21 no worried about blade hitting the inside of the deck..... I did do a blade rotation check before I fired it up. ;-)

Now to get it back to the farm and trim some weeds.
Tom

Tom,

Now wait a minute.. How do you bolt a three bolt engine onto a four bolt deck without making some changes somewhere?

Roger
