Re: Compressor oops....

I recently re-wired my 5hp air compressor as it was tripping the 20A breaker.
I ran 8ga from the main breaker panel with a 40A 2 pole breaker to the sub panel at the compressor.
As the wire from the sub panel to the compressor is 10ga, I put a 30A 2 pole breaker in the sub panel.
Or...........so I thought.........
Yesterday the breaker in the sub panel tripped again.
I was afraid I would have to call an electrician ti diagnose the system.
When I reset the breaker, I thought I noticed it labeled as 20A.
Naaaaaah, couldn't be...............I wouldn'ta gone thru the exercise and NOT upgraded the 20A breaker...........
WOULD I ????? (No, Boo, NOT wood eye...)

Yup. Sure did............what a maroon.................

I was very sick last night and this morning. Got to sleep finally around 4 am. I was thinking as I was going to sleep: maybe I should go post on the lawn mower site so everyone will not be lost. Well, sleep won.
