You're right Bert-Man,
Many of the wreaths are laid at Arlington National Cemetery by volunteers, but they are also provided to 1,200 additional locations. However, seeing pictures of Arlington is indeed a somber sight. We have many National Cemeteries throughout the country and they are all very somber places to visit. We spent April 2015 in South Carolina and visited the National Cemetery in Beaufort, which has many graves from the Civil War. It does cause one to pause and reflect. Pity it doesn't make us more peaceful..

That is really nice and the timing, just before the greedy ME season of Christmas is a very sombering idea.
You hear it on the news all he time, 1 dead here, two dead there and the magnitude of the whole lot does not hit home till you read 357 truck loads of wreaths.
