Stop My Neighbor Dogs Pooping In My Yard

I live on the corner with only one neighbor on the south side of our place. We have a large wrap around front yard. Seems in this covid mess, everyone is walking their dogs. And for some reason, MY YARD is the new dog park slash crap zone. I like most of you guys spend in the low thousand dollars on yard stuff slash maintenance. I can even be outside in the front and people will still "allow" their dogs to drop me a gift on my lawn. Here in OKC it's supposed to be a $200 fine. What are you all doing to keep the "animals- people" and dogs away?

I've seen youtube videos using cayenne pepper and other citrus like scents to deter. One FABULOUS black woman said "she's done with dog sh_t". Those motion sprinklers that drench the owner and dog might be an option if they made a good one..... HELP!!!!!

Black pepper works good. Did it with our dogs that were crapping where we walk.
If that doesn't i will need to know.
Do you have access to a shotgun, Double 00 buckshot, and a shovel?

Saw on YT a guy was buying cayenne in bulk. As in 50lb drums LOL. He said it was only 40 bucks. Sign me up.

Two seasons ago I bought like 10lbs of cayenne off ebay. Stuff had no potent pepper fire to it. Gave it to the wife for cooking.

I think some form of HOT pepper, black or red flakes mixed in with some oil, on the stove to saturate might be a winner. Rain washes these scents away. That oil will allow to linger a little longer.

I wonder if one of those Ultrasonic animal repeller would work. Now of course if the owner is holding the lease then becomes an intentional thing.

Now I do have a neighbor 4lb hemorrhoid that I putting up a fence and an electric wire. I know that will at least keep him at bay along the property line.

i tried one of those ultrasonic repellers on mine before the black pepper, they'd look at it while they were crapping right in front of it.

There nothing like a good assessment of one. I had that thought here too; hence, the fence and electric wire.

I think the problem with them is they are simply too quite as the sound level got to be loud enough to be painful to get a response that is needed and once the animal is beyond simply reset to the next intrusion into the protected zone. Plus frequency got to be in the right range too. Its like those UV dye lights where they got to match the intended target.

If you know which neighbors are doing it, collect the "droppings", and deposit them on their front porch some night. That should give them a hint.

Put it in a brown bag, light it on fire and ring the door bell.

Leave the droppingS with a message. "I wanted to return something you left in my yard" signed; 'Tired of being Sh$t on'
Also, put sign in yard warning that security video footage will be used to prosecute, then follow through.

A little girl down the street made a sign for her yard that said "Please pickup dog waste". It was made of cardboard and a stick. See if that works. Go from there.

Level 2: sign that tells them where to get waste bags.

Good luck.

It sounds like you are in the city. Or a populated area. The ideas above are good and bad. Gun fire and confrontations will get you in trouble. Do the people make a loop with their dog and circle back?? Usually the same person with dog. This will work by getting the owners attention. But you must be prompt. It has worked for many friends. But will make people cringe.

Wash out an old squeeze ketchup bottle. When you fry up bacon, save the grease in the bottle. They when the dog does its duty, put the bottle in the microwave to get it warm. Careful not to melt the bottle. Then run out and give the bottle a small squirt over the offending item. When the owner/dog does its return trip, the dog will slurp up a tasty treat. It should work the first time the owner sees what the dog did. Either way the offense is gone.

Put one moth ball every few feet on the perimeter of your property. Problem solved.

Well, sorry to hear about the dog leaving gifts for you. I have an unconventional way to solve the clean up for you. My brother in law shared this with me. Pour a little bacon grease on it, and watch the dogs clean up their own messes. It works, at least my BIL told me it does. Sorry if this is a little on the messy side of answers.

We put out a sign and poop bags to use, then started talking to people walking dogs; most were responsible owners. We figured out who was the disrespectful (and untruthful) culprit and deposited their mess at the end of her driveway after that. That seemed to get the point across.

I also have one neighbor and his dog poops in my yard and my dog poops in his yard....so it evens out. Life's too short, my advice is to invest your worry in real problems and maybe a pooper scooper...:)

Why you just put a few pit free prunes? Dogs here love them; owners don't for some reason. I getting ready to fix up my pest problem.

Bag and tag it then return to owners porch, make sure to set it on fire and ring the doorbell then run.

At any rate its not the dogs fault his owners a dirt bag hes just doing his thing.
Here if you see a dog owner dog pooping in your yard you have to make them clean it up before they leave your yard, its not your fault they didn't bring bags. So with shit in hand they can leave if they refused to pick it up thats a city fine. Turn them in. 90% of the people dont buy city dog tags thats a second fine.

Its not dogs the fault. The owners are the ones that should their butts kicked..

Bingo... Even the owners had to trained where and when to poop. All of us did. Even my house chicken has been trained to wait until he goes out in the yard. And he was a lot harder to train than a dog or cat.

Embarrassment works really well with irresponsible pet owners
Video them then post it to You-tube / Facebook
In particular the local community Face Book page if there is one.
I have also resorted to picking it up & leaving it loose in letterboxes with a note " Your dog left this behind " .
Letterboxes are better than door mats cause they are a lot harder to clean & the owners mail will stink like dog droppings for months .
Legally you are allowed to do this but not if you do things like set it on fire then ring the doorbell .
Fake snakes work really well .
As do pit bull terriers chained up in the yard

I can hear them - the high pitch and pulsing and all. They are annoying. They work for me...I don't relieve myself on my neighbors lawn and all..

There is an indian neighbor that keeps crapping on a common area in my neighborhood. I drive by now and then watching him watch me as his dog is crapping. I have the camera in my car. I printed a pic of him and put the pic at the spot with a Don't Do This. It worked or else he found another place for his dog to go.

One of my backyard neighbors (my lot is wedge shaped so I have 5) is a rental house so I get all types living there. A few years ago the tenants would let their big dog out while standing in the doorway and watch it do it's thing in the my yard. I would catch them and asked multiple times to keep the dog in their yard to poop. Fell on deaf ears. Went to the property management company and complained. They said they just manage the property and don't own it so they couldn't do anything. I asked them what I should do and they suggested I call the cops. I already knew that was a lost cause. I said maybe I will start collecting it and bring it to their office if they didn't want to resolve the issue. Instead I started to collect the fresh poop with a shovel and throw it against the siding on the back of the garage which was about 3' off of the property line with bushes in between. I don't know what they fed the dog but what came out was semi-solid turds. A few months later the property management guy was there to repair something and seen me in my back yard and came over to talk. He said "must have got the poop issue resolved with the tenants, haven't heard from you lately". I said "yep, look at the back of the garage". All covered with shit/shit stains. He then said "I will have a talk with them". That weekend the tenants were out scrubbing the siding and picking up the shit along the back of the garage and from then on the dog was on a leash when unattended. Don't miss those neighbors.
