Snapper Pro S200xt, 49E877 vanguard engine EFI system. As mentioned, engine bogs down when turning on the PTO. Just started doing that two cuts ago. Turned off engine to check for debris and or bad pulley, they were fine. Started engine again and problem went away, cut grass. Same thing happen again following week, again stop and restarted engine and all worked fine. This week problem has come back and is not going away as before. Plugs have only 28 hrs. , all pulleys were not hot to the touch. Any suggestions on what to check? M.I.L. comes on and then off again, just not getting full throttle when PTO engaged.

The conditions favor a fuel starvation. This usually begins at the fuel tank pickup tube.

The other possibility is one coil or injector has stopped functioning. Usually, it is a failed coil.

Solid mounted v-twin engines do not shake, they just drop the power by half, which is noticed especially when the PTO is activated.

Don't have any code panel, that i know of. Unless it appears on hour gauge when happening. Went to see if anything on hour gauge and could not get it to fail today? Feel certain it will show up again!

From what I have studied so far, these have issues with "smart" ignition coils failing. The right side usually fails first, but both coils are recommended to be replaced, especially if it has considerable hours on the machine. These have a warning light that will stay on steady when running or flash a code with just the key turned on.

I have not found a code list anywhere yet.

The first things to do is inspect all wiring and connection really well, then loosen clean and retighten any grounds starting at the battery. Troubleshooting 101, that many overlook.

Thanks for your input slomo, it is appreciated. The problem is still on and off. Changed fuel filter, main filter, seem to have helped some, also switched fuel tank caps from other side ( never used) I did find an additional filter connected to the fuel tank, but has only hose on one end (part # 84001895) can't find an information on it. Not sure what it is suppose to do.

That extra filter is just there to dirt out the vent line.

Briggs only has MIL light to indicate a problem. Must use the Briggs & Stratton Diagnostic Tool Kit Cable (Part No. 19636) to pull the codes. And the diagnostics software. Note you must have Win 10 or higher it to work.

Either one of these three manuals cover the Briggs EFI system.

If I remember correctly only a dealer that has access to the Briggs PowerPortal can download the software itself. Or a tech that is willing to provide a copy of it.

Briggs is even very proud is the hardware...
