Snapper Push Mower Revs Too High

Off hand not sure if you have an internal governor or a flywheel governor as you have stated only the Briggs seris number. The number is either stamped on the sheet metal or on the crankcase. That said I shall continue.

And those of us with Briggs Power Portal access can look it up by the serial number too on the newer engines.

The model number is printed on the tag below the serial number that the OP posted in his first picture.

I took the shroud off and it was clean under there.

Riiiiiiight............ Hope you don't think the outside of the mower is clean too. That sucker is filthy. Send us pictures of the cooling fins and block area.

At least take an old paint brush and dust her off, before opening the engine up. As in removing the carb or anything else. Helps keep all that grit and sand out of the engine where it doesn't belong.

Take your finger and manipulate the throttle linkage on top of the carb. Should slow her down and speed it up.

I think the engine was bad. My neighbor has it now. I tried to bend the tab for the governor and mess with the carb but the engine did not change speed.

Put your finger ON the throttle on top of the carb. Should be able to slow her and rev her up.

Either someone adjusted a possible throttle stop screw too far or most likely the linkage is fouled up. Waaaaay too many revs in the video.

Orange Crayon arrow is the throttle plate connection.
