Smokes when cold and using the choke!

This morning I ran a pressure test on the carb, held 15 pounds for an hour and never moved, perfect!!
Your carb needle held back 15lbs? Should of blown off the needle and float before that. Guessing your needle is in a sticky spot maybe? Normally the pressure will blow off at say 10lbs????

All you need is 7psi for 30 minutes or more. Use your finger to raise and lower the float. The needle should do the same. If the needle doesn't move, find out why.

Yes you can buy a cheap Chinese carb. Don't buy the cheapest ad you can find. Say the cheapest ad is 20 bucks. I buy a 30 dollar one. Tend to have better luck doing this. Still cheaper than OEM. OEM is the best if you can get parts and keep her running.

6 years sober Im not very religious nor do I do meetings. I probably should, I have read the book twice, and I do like the AA concept, millions that it worked for, it can't be wrong. I needed to hear that today. and Im yanking ropes as hard as I can to get back to the country living, its a lost art at this point. You wouldn't believe how many men quietly told me they moved out of the city, and haven't got a clue, and the honesty in their voices floored me. Women would drop off mowers and say "my husband can't do squat, I thought men just knew how to do this stuff". Im thankful I don't say those things or have them said about me. and thank you for the prayer it has me thinking its probably time for a meeting. Stay safe, my man.
I was lucky we had small engine repair in the 7th and 8th grades. Got to rebuild a roto tiller with the world famous Briggs 3.5hp L-head. First hot rod cam install when I was 16. Old Ford 460 that would tear the tires off the rims. Sucked the gas down too. LOL Fun times.

Kids these days I bet don't have shop class or vo-tech schools in high school. Nothing but playing on their cell phones and watching "viral" videos crap.

I picked up a new carb, and pressure tested both new and old, they pop off at 16 to 17 psi. Cheap gauge, it could measure off a little. If I didn't need to cut my grass, this would be interesting, sure has me on YouTube every night

Never seen the needle push the float up and off at those figures. Normally around 10psi it will pop off. I have a cheap tester too. ????
I don't know what to say, my first time using it
I'm just trying to understand why it's sucking so much gas, and why is it wanting to run with such a high rpm.

I have what I think is good compression. 100 to maybe around 105 psi on each cylinder. Does that tell me my rings and head gasket are good?

Sucking gas as you say could be needle hanging open. High revs is the governor throttle linkage.

I can't tell if you are getting a real needle test with YOUR tester. I would refund your tester.

Just connect a clear fuel line to the carb. Carb positioned upright as normal. Fill the hose with gas. Mark a line on the hose. Watch it for 30 minutes. Level line should stay ON your line and not move. If your fuel line drops you have a leaker. This way is cheaper than buying a pressure tester. Also simulates real world testing with a liquid.

Big update
When this problem started , I had white smoke when starting cold with a choke
Thing have changed in the last couple days!!
Now smoking non stop. Surging, still getting gas in oil.
Well I pulled the spark plugs and put the bore scope back in
Now I'm seeing vertical scratching Forming, light but , wow!!
Also notice a black spot forming at the top of the cylinder wall at the head!
The spark plug was black and wet. This was a new plug two weeks ago! And the cylinders looked good the other day when I first got the bore scope!!
Is this a blown head gasket and or rings???

Read that out loud.

Told you to STOP using it until the carb needle is not leaking.

Gas in oil is BAD. Will destroy your engine. Converts your oil into a water like viscosity.

Also will be a running flooding condition all the time you open the fuel valve. Fuel is dumping into the crankcase.

All this excessive fuel will carbon up the engine in no time.

Takes one mow to foul a new plug if she is literally choking on gas trying to run.

Here we are on page 7 and you still have a broken mower.
