Should the lawn be replaced by artificial turf ?

The front lawn consists of two rectangles totally 1,500 sq. ft. It was/is bluegrass sod and in the past year has had bermuda grass, and now seems 50% bent grass. How does on make the decision of killing then replacing the lawn versus changing to artificial turf. Hoping to see how Tenacity works: https://www.lawnmowerforum.com/showthread.php/49503-TENACITY®-how-to-apply-to-36-50-sq-ft-of-lawn

People have said that:

1. Artificial turf (AT) is much more expensive initially
2. AT does not look as nice as grass. Wish it didn't look so uniform. How about a few weeds, brown spots, etc. ? The green color should more resemble grass.

The savings in not mowing and in the water bill and not getting weeds are obvious.

In California, how much will it cost to reinstall the lawn? To replace with AT?

Artificial turf is NOT maintenance free.
Will you buy the equipment to vacuum it?
Weeds can grow thru over time.

If can look good at a distance.
It is not cool to walk through.

Find others who have had it for a few years and find out about it also.

Okay. The lawnmower can vacuum. Groundclear will stop weeds.

I would use an artificial lawnmower.

A mower for a vacuum is not a good idea.
The artificial grass mat will be sucked up into the blades.

My point was...it is not maintenance free yard.

The closest thing you will get to a maintenance free yard is to plant it out with low shrubs 3' to 9'
Then cover the ground with agricultural cloth followed by 6" of coarse mulch.
Then it becomes a once week job to either spay the mulch with glyco or drag a rake across it to knock off the weeds that germinate in the mulch.
Once every 5 years or so add another 2" of coarse mulch.

Yes, your lawn is replaced by artificial turf. But you need to hire an expert or a company that has experience to install artificial turf. The Perfect Lawn is providing clean, safe, and low maintenance landscapes in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Cities throughout North Texas.

Or you can just install green dyed concrete. It is low maintenance but I prefer real grass my myself. Of course it will take a lot of maintenance.

Since this is a lawn mower forum, what is wrong with real grass?

If you are fat and lazy, wrong answer.

Health conditions, sell the place and move into an assisted living joint.

This is an old thread that someone posted in. That said, artificial turf can be 200F in the sun in summer. Lots of people and pets have been burned by it. Ever walk across dark concrete on a hot day?
