I was asked by my father to inquire about the benefits of shocks on a mower. He had back surgery years ago and my Snapper jars him a little. I have seen some of the Simplicity mowers (I am sure there are probably others) with shocks but I haven't quite wrapped my head around how that would affect the cutting aspect. Does anyone have experience with one of these set-ups? Thanks in advance!

There are several manufactures of ZTRs with shocks or 'flex forks suspension systems for the Tractor/Operator, but the mower deck is independent enough to give a great cut. These work well but the premium operator seat on them is most of the suspension for the rider....

You can capture a lot of cushion with reduced tire pressure... Obviously this will have some limits.

Top dressing your yard (like golf courses do) will work best. There is no real short cut to smoothing the ride, other than smoothing the the lawn... :smile:KennyV

Install a Bostrom low profile seat. They install these seats in any equipment or trucks where a person has to spend a lot of operating time in. You might find them a little pricey but if you have back problems it would be worth the price.
