from what I have read you can use 20w 50 motor oil for the hydros
has anyone else done this ?
 
It depends on the manufacturer of the drive unit.
Find out what you have on your Scag.

I have a Hydro Gear and that is what the manual calls for. I have used it and has worked fine for the last 5 years.
