Hello,

Wanted to see if anyone had any tips for this problem. Last year my weed eater pull start string got stuck in the pull out position. I opened up the pull start and wasn't paying attention and that tension cable became unraveled. I am able to get it all back in the pull start compartment but when I turn the plastic piece to tension the cable, it always slips off the plastic nub. I am able to get it tensioned outside of the compartment but can't seem get it to stay on the plastic piece while trying to tension it. Any tips?

Without having a rewinding tool most string trimmer rewind springs are near impossible to get back in.
Not sure about your actual machine but th e spring generally sits in a cup which is removable .
The spring is wound into the cup then the cup is dropped into the pull start , spring end down as a unit .
The trick is to get the hooks on the spring to line up with the anchor places .
And it ain't easy .
Ryobi products are deliberately made to be difficult if not impossible to fix .
PArt of their marketing stragity , hake a tool tha is comfortabe & easy to use so when it breaks the owner will just go out & buy a new one.

Also make you actually wound the spring in the correct direction.

They not all that hard to wind btw I do it several times every year.
