Hi,
trying to buy my first mower and I have an offer for a used one. It's a "Cub Cadet - 173cc/6.75 ft-lbs" It's been stored for about 2 years (hasnt been used since) and has some rust underneath and all over the blade. I attached a picture so anyone can see for them selves. The selling price is $150. I am not sure if this is a good deal or if I should be concerned about the rust. I am hoping someone can give me good advice. Thanks.

The pictures show it to be a nice mower. I say it would be worth 150 dollars. Also I am just looking at pictures so take it from there.

I would say "too much", but then you are in California....

They don't even have the right size blade on it......

The rust doesn't look to bad in the picture. As long as it starts, the RWD engages/releases and it cuts, go for it. I would try and get it a bit cheaper though.

You must have hawkeyes Fish. I can't tell if that is the correct blade or not. If its not, then it can be used as a leverage to haggle the price down to cover the cost of a new blade. I would also say that you will be buying oil and changing it (even though it may just been done) and if that is the case, then the price you should pay is about $110 - $120.

stored for 2 years. hope the tank was drained and ran dry before storage.

if ya go look at it,look in the tank and see if theres anything in it. if there is anything in there, id be skeptical. fill it up and run it for a while, like more than 5 minutes.

Yes, used mowers come up around here for much less.

No, don't worry about the rust. Worry more about a numbnuts owner who'd put the incorrect blade on it. A normal homeowner CA lawn mower seldom needs a new blade. What was he cutting?

Maybe tell us how it runs and cuts.

Dude, my Cub Cadet has 6 hours on it, 1050 and the paint under the deck is already peeling.

It is apparent that their powder coating is very insufficient. However, I feel that the wind tunnel blast that this 50" deck
creates, would prob burn off any paint job done.
I figure I will have to replace it in 5 years and my wife will bitch about it to no ends.
What are ya gonna do?
