I have a up-hill slope with a fair side slope to the up-hill slope, about every other mowing I use my push mower along the edge to change the repetitive track spacing from the mower. seems like skipping a week makes all the difference. I will sometimes do the same around my trees if I see stress from the wheels.

Mow clockwise one time then counterclockwise the next time.
Look for very round shouldered tyres and the wider the better.

Gotta move your wheels one wheel width over which means when you do this you will either need to use your trim mower or a little extra weed eating. I used 3 wheel widths, first week as close as I could get to the edge, second weed 1 wheel width in from last week few years extra mins of weed eating, 3 rd week 1 wheel width from last week 3 wheel widths from edge and a pass with a trim mower, then repeat week 4 as close as possible
It would be nice to know what mower you're using and what alternatives you have if any? There are a lot of different things you can do which the members have suggested and all are good suggestions. I personally switch mowers and change mowing patterns every time I mow.
