I have a Husqvarna RZ 4219 that I need to replace the blade drive belt. I am 78 and have never done this before. It is not broken yet but getting ready too.
Looking for all the information on how to replace it and best place to get a belt and how long. This belt is 2 1/2 years old.
Thank you for your help

Being nearly your age I suggest first thing is getting the tractor elevated about 3 ft. unless you get up and down better than i do. The operator's manual should have belt change instructions and do your best to find an oem belt.

Just make sure you get a OEM belt or you can end up with problems.

A friend of mine who is 72 and still a working mower mechanic uses a 3 leg scaffold of the type we used to change car & truck engines with.
He puts the mower under the scaffold, uncouples the deck, empties the fuel tank then stands the mower on its end with his old engine block & tackle.
That way every thing is right in front of himand at a convienent height to work on.
Belts , pulleys etc changed he just drops it back down on top of the mowing deck and couples it back up.
He puts some 2 x 4's under the deck before he pulls the mower up and if he has to work on the deck he slips a couple of hooks under the deck rim & stands it up as well.

I took his advice & although 8 years his junior oft do the same thing.
so much easier working that way

The lawn tractor setting on the truck tail gate and saw horses just doesn't look safe. You might get away with it on a lite weight lawn mower but I wouldn't advise it on a heavy duty garden tractor. Some of the garden tractors can weight over a 1/2 ton.

You'd be hard pressed to push it off of there and as for the saw horses, they've been tested to 225 lbs each and I trust most tail gate manufacturers have seen two or three 200 + lb. fat asses setting on tail gates. But to be safe I do have the grand kids back up a few steps when I engage the PTO. Thanks for the concern.
