I've got a 92 toro 22" (20107) recycler that's been through the wars...we've been running it for 20 years now.

It has lost power to the point that it's almost unusable. I rebuilt the carb last year and it was obviouse due to the wear at the butterfly valve shaft that the carb needed replacement(couldn't get the valve off, the screw was locked on shaft, so couldn't replace bushings). I'm considering doing a complete rebuild on the engine (rings, valves, carb replacement, possibly bearings)

I need a reality check though, is this a worthwhile endeavor? Feel free to share your thoughts

Well first things first :welcome: to the forum. It must be a good mower to last 20 years, and with some work, a little money, you can use it for many more years. If the parts are not too high & easy to find go ahead, then look around for a replacement & have two mowers.

And Another WELCOME to LMF...

Myself, I like to keep the things I have... It is not really so much based on the price of rebuilding, but if it's something I like, and if I own it, I Have to Like it...
I llike older things, most of my stuff is getting Older, me too...
I know some friends that have gone through 5 mowers in Less than 20 years. So there are some that have No problem getting rid of & replacing.

Be aware that if the engine is getting tired, you may find the piston & cylinder are no longer round... you could have some machine time in your rebuild...
Here is a place to start checking on parts, (there are several other also)... : Parts and Diagrams for Toro Consumer 20107, Lawnmower, 1992 (SN 2000001-2999999)
You will have to decide if the effort is going to be worth keeping your old mower... I know I would most likely do it...
Post back with what you determine... :smile:KennyV
