It will most likely be the seat or reverse switch
If you mower shuts down if you mow in reverse then turning the PTO on when the switch is reading reverse will shut down the engine.
Every one goes ballistic with seat switch removal but usually overlooks the reverse switch .

can I bypass these switches ?

stops like the key is turned off
its the seat switch, if your butt isnt in the seat it kills the mower as soon as you engage the blades, sometimes the plug to the switch isnt fully pressed o
on

also check if its in reverse if its not the seat switch

My X300R has the same issue. Runs fine. drives all over the yard. but when engaging the mower it bogs down then dies. i cant seem to figure out why

Never a good idea to piggy back on another persons thread Jim.
Boggs down & dies will be an engine &/or deck problem .
If it bog down when you engage the blades standing still, usually it will be caused by a deck problem like a bad bearing in the blade spindles , debris wrapped around a blade , frozen idler pulley or the like .

Otherwise it is an engine problem and is generally a bad governor or dirty carburettor .
The biggest load on the engine is running the blades .
Sit some one in the seat, engage the blades then manually move the governor arm to make the engine increase speed .
Do the same without the blade running.
Let us know what happens.

Not so much etiquette as confusion
he people responding to the thread will have the OP's mower in mind and will have already gone through various eliminations.
Always best to start fresh with make & model of the mower & engine .
Thus those in the system can dial up your mower which prevents us sending you down the wrong road, well lessens the chances any way .
