professional landscaper

Have any of you ever used a professional landscaper to help spruce up your yard and make it look fabulous, or do you do everything yourself?

I make mine look as fabulous as I can stand ...:biggrin:
actually I have spent all my money on equipment just so I could do what I wanted to do to it... :smile:KennyV

A much bigger return on that investment, not only in financial terms but in satisfaction as well:licking:

I have to agree, too. I'm not into interior designers or anything like that either. I figure my ideas are good enough to make anyone around here happy!

If we had money, we might bring in someone to help spruce it up. I can't say that I'm the most creative person. I'm Sundance to Butch, wearing bifocals with no vision.

When I wasn't retired I would pay a landscaping company to get everything set up. For example I would have them put my mulch beds in and plant all of my plants just to get me started. I would do the maintenance and add a thing or 2 here. I still got a lot of reward out of maintenance. It costs ya a pretty penny though.

Yeah it's a nice idea if you need a kickstart and are short of time or ability, but the cost is quite high I guess. Perhaps there are students of this subject somewhere who would do a half decent job for less?

Like anything else it costs a lot to maintain a business today, whether you do your own work or have it done by others those in the business need to eat too.

The perception was that the neighbor's son should be able to mow the lawn for a few dollars, and therefore "I shouldn't have to pay much for this". The trick to this business is in cultivating the customers more than the grass.

A good landscaper over time can really enhance your lawn for a price, or you can DIY and enjoy the oudoors. I enjoy making the landscapes attractive and do it more for fun than money. Stilll gotta eat though.

We got help designing our yard by a professional and then we put the plan into action ourselves, it was fairly reasonable to get the guy to help design it for us.

I have good ideas but cannot make them real on my own. I would have to get a professional to do that but at the same time ensure my interests are safeguarded.

Figured I'd find an old thread and brush the dust off of it

I do all the work on my yard myself. I kinda find it embarrassing when you're a professional and you have some other schmuck do it for you.

Lol I don't always have time for mine. My wife pays the neighbor kid I showed him how to use the proper equipment and use them properly. I let him use my backup equipment around our neighborhood he is a good kid. 10 bucks my lawn gets weedeated mowed and blown off. And he pays me a dollar for every lawn he uses my stuff on

A WIN for you both... actually a double win for him... he gets a summer job, plus he is learning how to properly use equipment. :smile:KennyV

Mostly for him costs me more to maintain than I make 1 dollar at a time but I don't mind he's only 13 and he says he wants to make some cash to buy the new xbox
