Hey, for some of you seasoned lawn care guys, I'm bout to get into tree pruning and was looking for a solid price range I can charge for palm tree pruning and trees around 8ft - 15ft high? Per tree, per hour what because what I've learned is you never know how much work it take to do it until you start doing it but bye that time your up to your neck in work and the price you gave your client has already been set in stone, opps!!!

Oh....PALM tree pruning. In the last 2 threads you said PAWN tree. I was confused! Some people say don't ever charge by the hour (post #8 in this thread: http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/lawn-care-landscaping/12869-what-charge.html), but some trees might take longer than others even if they are the same height, so sometimes you might get ripped off if you charge by the tree. I would like to hear what others have to say.

Ok you have to drive there how much time and gas?

You have to know what you are doing to do the job right.

You have to do the job and take all the limbs with you and dump them.

You have pruned a palm tree before ( if not then don't touch it) so you know how much work it is or how long it takes.
So lets say you charge $30 per man hour ( if less then stay home )

Time and gas to get there $10
$30 per tree under one hour $60 up to two hours.

Haul away and dumb limbs or whatever $30 per hour plus dumb fee.

Pruning or trimming a tree or shrub or a bush is a skill not every one can do it the proper way so if you do not think your time and skill is worth $30 plus per hour then rethink what your doing.

Whatever you do do your best so when someone drives by they will want to watch you and say wow he does a good job

First I don't believe you prune a Palm tree you trim it and you better know what you're doing or you can kill the tree. As far as price I think that would depend on the business. There are company's that specialize in trimming Palms and there are some lawn-care businesses that will remove the petioles, fronds, flowers and fruit stalks from the tree at small additional cost same as maybe trimming hedges or cleaning out flower beds. So in the end you have to be in competition between specialized company and the lawn-care guy. Make a few calls to a few company's and find out there rates as well as some lawn-care businesses in your area and set your price accordingly.
