Oil Change Every Year

OK guys. I'm just getting a feel for what everybody thinks is best when getting ready to store you gas mower before winter. As the poll says...do you:

1) Change your oil before storing?

2) Change oil after winter is over getting mower ready to cut in the spring?

3) Change as needed all throughout the year (more for you lawn pros)?

This is for my 21" mowers, but might work for you, too. I change my oil every 50 hours throughout the season, and change it in the spring, after winter is over. I do this because I want it to be fresh for the new season. But I can also see some people changing it at the end of fall so that the contaminants don't have time to settle over winter. Maybe if it's cheap, do both.

I change every 50 hrs. Which is through out the year. I'm in Florida so I don't really get a winter break. Lol

You missed one important thing that is going to skew your results.

How many hours do you mow a year ?
Or
Is mower used commercially or residentially ?

Yeah good catch  The manuals say change more often under certain conditions. Another thing that could confuse things is the myth of extending oil changes or use of Synthetic vs Conventional oil and what people think and do.

Private use here, & change oil & filter at end of mow season, since it will NOT be anywhere near 50 hours per year.

Home use. I like to change the oil and generally clean up the mower for storage at the end of the year. That way in the spring its ready to fire up and go. Plus its not sitting with dirty oil in the engine all winter.

Home and work machines get serviced in spring. Work machines get oil and filter every 100 hrs after the initial spring service.
