Engine Noisey engine, fouls plug

Have Craftsman lawn tractor Model 917.288562 with Briggs and Stratton, two cylinder 24HP, Model 4456 77 2188 GS engine. While mowing the engine popped and blew a small amount of dark smoke out the exhaust pipe. The engine starts and runs but is noisey. I checked the plugs and found one fouled. The new plug immediately became fouled. I checked the compression and read a 170 PSI on the good cylinder and 150 on the defective cylinder. What should I do next to determine what is wrong with the engine?
