I have a 18 hp brigs motor on my 20 year craftsman my grand father gave me I need to noise level lower any help would be nice

About the only thing you can possible do would be a new or better muffler.

Seems that even if you lower the exhaust noise that the meshing of the internals in a Briggs & Stratton engine is still loud. The Honda engines are some of the least noisy I have experienced.
Most Briggs & Stratton engines can be fitted with a Lo-Tone or Super Lo-Tone Muffler to help decrease exhaust noise. See link below for catalog numbers and types of mufflers. Hope this helps.

Yes, my Honda GCV190 engine is very quite. When the blades aren't engaged you can talk at a normal level!
