It's a lawn boy F series 2 cycle engine. I once had an identical model. The battery wiring has a place to attach a charger that plugs into the wall. They can be found on eBay. You will not have to remove the shroud to remove the carb. Just the 2 screws and fuel lines.

Its not a 6volt battery six cells around 2volts per cell=12volts, and yes use your automotive battery charger but set it for 12volts not 6.
