The only real problem could be with the black tube.
Either it is hanging up on something in the tank or there is a hole in the line so you should test it.
The felt end of the filter is held on by that clip so you can pop it off the pop off the other end from the carb and blow through the tube,

I have a 225 and it will cut off too when side edging. If the fuel filter does not stay immersed in fuel the engine loses power and dies. Like mentioned earlier, I fill my tank up really full when doing side edging and I dont have a problem.

Hope this helps.

A longer fuel line. Are you using oem fuel filter? If you aren't you should it's weighted. If you are you can try adding a fishing line weight to the fuel line by tying a bit of fishing line to where the filter and fuel line meet and adding weight to the fishing line

yeah oem its brand new havent changed anything. honestly from my observations..the lines for the fuel filter are so stiff causing it not to move down by gravity. are there aftermarket fuel lines?

Not any good and if they are that stiff probably time to replace I've always gotten a little longer fuel lines about an inch and have never had a problem
