Hey guys, just got a new srm225 and absolutely love it. Im a homeowner, nothing special but ive learned to edge sideways with my old craftsman trimmer so edging upside down isnt easy for me now (i am starting to learn) anyways i am using the true fuel echo sells and whenever i go to edge sideways after a few seconds it would cut off. id start it up (upright) and itd start and cut off again, id have to let it sit for a little before it would get going again. Any ideas? Does the gas need to be full full all the time? There is fuel in it but its not full. Not sure if sideways makes it not get the gas. Also keep in mind normal trimming upright i have 0 issues

Any ideas would be great thanks!

I've heard of this before ......... drain the fuel tank, then look inside ( best you can, see if the filter came off from the pickup hose , ( a little clip holds it on ) then turn the unit sideways (as if you were edging with it ) check to see if filter drops to the low side of the tank, (it should ... because the filter is weighted to do just that ) its a diaghpragm carburetor, so it should run sideways with no problem , be sure filter is clean , might want to check your vent hose (unlikely to be the problem though ) sometimes the filter gets stuck in a pocket of the tank , while the tank is empty be sure to check that filter DOES flop around, it should , let us know your findings ........ Boobala ..

Do as mechanic mark stated in previous post READ your literature , SAVE the literature, record & SAVE all model, serial numbers etc. , .....save for future reference .

Open the tank cap and look at the fuel filter, it must be completely under the fuel or it won't work.
Some times they get hung up on a ledge, the line gets tied in knots ( them dam gremlins ) or you get little cracks in the line so the carb sucks air.

thanks for your replies guys..i checked things out and honestly im not enough familar with these type of things to know whether or not things look good. teh fuel filter was pretty far on the top(far right) possibly to the point where it couldnt get fuel when i would turn it to edge unless i added more so i will probably just keep the fuel pretty filled. Ive posted some photos below. As far as reading the guide ive read some havent gotten thru it all (just got it yesterday) it will take some time to know everything.

thanks again

The yellow tube is the return line.
The thinner black one is the supply line.
Fish it out with a piece of bent wire and give us a look at it.

I have the SRM-225 and turn it sideways to edge. Mine does fine. I keep my it full of fuel though. Likme 3/4's or more. I read somewhere on here that it helped. I haven't had any issues doing.

Are you right or left handed? I'm right handed so if you are left maybe the opposite turn angle is effecting something...

I'm right handed. I'm going to assume I didn't have it filled enough. It was below half way, i just wanted to make sure that it was sideways compatible and there was anything I should know
