i am going to try something new i have a older push mower that is four cycle but instead of 4 cycle oil in it i am going to use strait gas and 2 cycle oil i was wondering if anyone has done this :confused2::confused2:

why would you want to do that to a perfectly fine lawn mower?

I guess I don't understand? You are going put 2 cycle oil in the crankcase instead of 4 cycle oil? What would the advantage be? Now where is the gas going into the oil?

While your at it try mixing 10w-30 with gas and run it in yr trimmer.

Go to Howitworks.com and see the difference in 2 and 4 stroke and you will see why this doesn't work.

Not that I would think it is OK and not going to do it on any of my 2 cycle equipment. I was talking to a older gentleman who lives in the northern NY
Adirondacks was telling me that all he uses in his chainsaws 10w-30 oil. He was telling its easier to find then 2 cycle oil. Don't know how much he uses
this chainsaw or how long it lasts but I guess it can't be all bad? I really can't see a advantage of using the wrong oil but I guess it would be better then no
oil and I really can't see why instant damage with 2 cycle oil in a 4 cycle engine. I really can't see putting gas into it other then to shorten the life of the engine.

Years ago they made oil for 2 and 4 cycle engines. My Dad and uncle got several cases in at a time. Two cycle oil nowdays from what i understand lacks the needed amounts of additives for four cycle engines. Many of them are mighty thin. Just use the right oil unless you are playing around for whatever reason.
