Hi everyone, new member checking in. We have a 2006 John Deere X520 that we bought new in July 2006. It's getting ready for it's 7th season of operation and just passed the 350 hour mark. We maintain a 1.75 acre property in Hagerstown, MD on a steep incline and this machine handles the task with ease.

So far the X520 has provided us with 6 years of basically trouble-free service. I just finished the following pre-season maintenance tasks:

- changed engine oil (10w-40) and filter (FRAM replacement)
- changed spark plugs (Champion Rapid Start)
- changed air filters
- changed transmission fluid
- serviced mower deck and replaced blades and gage wheels. Leveled deck.
- greased all zerk fittings
- plugged a slow leak in the right front tire
- cleaned machine

So hopefully we're ready for another season. We paid about $6,500.00 for this machine new and we ran the numbers last year and determined that it has actually already paid for itself given the prevailing rates our local landscape contractor charges per/cutting for similar properties in our neighborhood.

I hope to keep this tractor for another six years.....

Cheers!
