I just sold my husqvarna mz6128. We just bought a new home and it was just a little too big for the yard I have now. Our yard is sorta hilly with a few slopes. I'm trying to decide between two different mowers. One is a Husqvarna GTH24v52ls and the other is the new zero turn from Husqvarna its the M-ZT5228 it has a 28 hp commercial Briggs engine and the other has a 24hp kawasaki. I really like the zero turn but don't want to keep my yard tore up from the slopes. And on the other hand I also really like the gth garden tractor with the Kawasaki. I'm also gonna get a bagger for whichever one I get. With that being said what do you all think would be the better mower. GTH $3199 and the M-ZT is $4799. Thanks

Do a search on this forum using "need a new mower". This subject comes up often and you will get a good idea of what we feel is your best option.

mm5832,
Looking at the Husqvarna website, are these the same mowers as the GT52XLS lawn tractor and M-ZT52 zero turn? They appear to match the specs you quoted with a $3299 MSRP for the LT and $5499 for the ZTR. If Husqvarna had that M-ZT52 last fall when I was shopping I "may have" given it some consideration for the money!! I would assume that the B & S Endurance Commercial would be a decent engine and it sports the commercial Hydrogear ZT-3400 trannies and cast-iron spindles. All they had when I was looking were the MZ5225 & MZ5424S ZTR's and they just weren't "Commercial enough" for what I was wanting. On the downside, the M-ZT52 only has an 11gauge deck, but that's not a big deal since it carries a decent 3-year warranty(and a 1-year Commercial, which is definitely a good sign regarding it's durability). Personally, I'd never go back to a lawn tractor after having a ZTR, but that M-ZT52 only weighs 760lbs and like you said it may be problematic with a lot of slopes(my Gravely 52" is almost 1100lbs). The GT52XLS looks like a very good lawn tractor and IMHO Husqvarna LT's are some of the best.....but it doesn't look like your dealer is giving you as good of a deal as on the ZTR. You have a difficult choice to make there!!!

Yeah I believe there the same I may have mis typed it sorry about that. Yeah the zero turn is a little light weight it sounds like. I'm just torn between the two and can't decide right now.

Yeah the ZTR might have some trouble on the slopes, depending on how steep they are. I would demo both mowers and see which you prefer.

Just went and determined the grade of my yard. Most of it is a 15% grade maybe just a tad more in some spots and less in some spots. Tomorrow I'm gonna take a pic or two and try and post them on here for you guys to take a look at. Thx for all the input.

I would go with the GTH24v52ls I might be a little partial though because I have been looking at that same mower.
