My new Scag mower

Well I picked up my new scag mower last Friday. Spent the weekend just looking and learning about it.
It is my first ZTR so it will be a challenge to learn to operate it.

First zero turn is a liquid cooled Turf Tiger???

Boy, you like jumping in the deep end head first don't you??

That's a fine machine. I also have one with the liquid cooled 31 hp Kohler Aegis engine. Its about a year old and has been flawless.

Was going to say the same thing.....for your first ZTR you sure picked a great one! :thumbsup:
 
A lot of machine for a first ZTR!!! As my neighbor says, "if you are going to be a bear you may as well be a grizzly"!!!!
I wish that I had one with a 61" deck and a mulch kit!!!:thumbsup:

I hope I don't "bust my head open" jumping into the "deep end head first" I spent a lot of time researching ZTR's before buying the Turf Tiger. I do custom mowing on large rural property. I do believe this machine will do a great job. At times I will be towing a 60" self powered finish mower behind the Tiger. This set up allows me to cut 120" per pass. Do you think I will have a problem with this set up?

On occasion, I have used mine with a chain to pull a stuck mower out of the mud. There was no problem with that and the TT has plenty of power to do that. However, I have no experience with long term "towing" such as you are planning.

Keeping in mind that inexperience, I would say that if you are in the flat part of Texas and you are truly mowing well kept grass(versus "bushhogging") then you might be OK with that.

Two major concerns would be 1) the weight of the finish mower and 2) how are you going to attach it? It would have to be offset to the right or left and that would probably stress the pumps to keep the mower tracking straight, but I don't know how bad.

That Scag is going to cover the ground pretty fast. It would be hard to imagine making better time towing the other mower even though you are making a twice as wide cut.

Maybe someone else on here has experience with what you are proposing.

I also did a lot of research before I bought and concluded that the TT was the best of the best. I have not been disappointed. Yours will do a great job, too.

Sounds like you possibly should have considered the 72" deck instead of the 61". If all of your cutting is rural large tracts the acres/hour of a 72" ZTR like the Turf Tiger is phenomenal. Like mentioned, use of an extended cutting swath would have been largely unnecessary.
