Wow, very cool! Can't help ya on the gears but that's a neat old tractor! Will u be keeping it or selling?
10 acres to mow with that mower. It sure will have its job cut out for it so you better get that 7th speed fixed. Just how long dose it take you to mow that much lawn with that small of a mower?
Beautiful open spaces and I like your spirit, but you need to work on the variator so it will have all 7 gears, fence 9 acres for sheep and get a couple of guard dogs for the wolves.

I haven't tried yet we just bought the place in November and the grass has just hit the point that it needs to be mowed even if it takes all day I'm good with it I will just buy a 12 pack vs a 6 pack

Not a good plan. Been there done that. In fact, done it all. Even if it works for now you'll regret it in later years.

After the 12 pack and mowing 10 acres with that mower you just sleep good that evening. I was thinking more like 2 days so you better buy two 12 packs. With that much lawn you might think about buying something with a 60 in cut.

After waiting weeks for a 2 day "in stock" order from MOWTOWNUSA I finally got everything in (or so I thought)
Got the deck all washed up and installed a new belt and idler spring new blades (btw if you ever have a spindle stuck on a spline you can make a field expedient spindle puller by using the old blade) and some bolts that were missing lubed everything as best as I could and its spinning awesome now
Went to change the drive belts
I don't know what kinda.....engineer designed the belt system but wow
I found out that
A I don't own snap ring pliers
B.my Montgomery Ward to mtd parts listings that I have been looking up maaaay not be 100% correct
The rear belt that I ordered was about 2" to long luckily the old belt had the proper mtd part number embossed onto it
Since I have the snap ring pliers on order (thanks Amazon credit!) I'm going to have to cut off the foward belt(remembering to take pictures this time) to see if that one was also wrong

But if the dealer gets the wrong belts, it is our fault. MTD has several of those wrong part listings. The best is when the number listed is for an obsolete part, for a mower that is currently under warranty.
