And the pin holes in the aluminum calipier can get corroded too so if I remember correctly you need a 5/16" (8mm) reamer to clean them up.

The caliper pins must be free to move and you can make your brake pads from old rivited automotive pads from a brake shop. Cut cut to size with your hack saw.
