Hey, changed the oil on my mower today, and when I tipped it back down after draining the oil and refilling noticed that the breather/vacuum tube was disconnected from the carbs rubber grommet and doesn’t seem to want to connect. It doesn’t appear that if I unbolt the fuel tank and back it off I’ll be able to re-attach it but maybe? Figured I would check about this before I do anything. Haven’t encountered this before. Is it normal for these two to become disconnected due to vibrations or something? Everything look normal?
It’s a Murray 10A902 2291 B1 22" Push with what appears to be the model 90000 or 100000 engine not sure how to tell the difference. Where could I find the engine numbers?
Those tubes are threaded on the end? If so, that sounds promising maybe it’s gotten loose after years of vibrations. If not, then I guess I'll back the tank/carb off and try to slide that boot back on but I think it is positioned too low at the moment but maybe twisting it will rotate it so the bend points up rather than to the right which might do the trick. If not that then as bertsmobile1 said I can try to bend it as it is soft aluminum and if not that I will crawl back to my computer with the engine numbers. In the mean time, it’s beer o'clock on a Friday, my grass can live to grow another day. You guys are giving me hope!
Just needed to rotate the breather tube. Thx for all the help. Once I realized it was threaded on the end made a bit more sense. Probably could use a little loctite or sonething but probably only need to do several more mows this season sonething to keep in mind for the spring tuneup.
