I just discovered this forum while researching this mower. I have acquired a number of mowers, all different brands, with the intent of rebuilding some, and parting out others. This particular one is in pretty good shape, and I am rebuilding it so we (volunteer fire department) can use it to mow our development's parks. It's got a Briggs & Stratton 14HP Twin II engine. What I am looking for right now is a wiring diagram for this mower/engine.

And a question - is the wiring on a typical mower pretty much basically the same? I am mechanical, and understand ignition/charging/flywheel magnetos, etc and I can probably try to trace all the wires on this mower through the safety switches, etc. But would love to have a basic starting point. There are a couple of wires not connected, and they may not have an obvious connection point.

:welcome: Welcome to the forum. If you could give us the model # for the mower it would help us out tremendously in aquiring a wiring schematic for you.

Model number, I guess that WOULD be nice.

It's pretty hard to read, what I can make out looks like 40887X920.

Thanks, KennyV, I am downloading that document as I type.
Edited to add: Thanks again, just looked over this document. This is good stuff. We have Briggs & Stratton engines on two of our wildfire truck fire pumps, I can use this on them as well.

I could not find your model # listed but there are some pdf files for Murray at the following link

Murray-Models-1968-Thru-1989/
I am assuming that your Murray is an 1987 so scroll down and try the file listed as 87-39004 pdf and go to the electrical page that has a schematic. Maybe this will help you as yours may be similar.
