Engine: Briggs and Stratton 17hp Intex single cylinder.
Mower has a new battery, new carb and a new starter. I also have checked the valve clearances and they are fine.
Mower sometimes stops on the compression stroke as if the compression release is broken but I am positive the compression release isn’t broken b/c if you turn the motor over by hand past the compression stroke it’ll turn over fine all day long. I’d like to fix this issue too but the below issue is my biggest concern.
Cranking/ Turn the mower over you can see fuel spray/ kind of spit out the intake of the carb as the motor is turning over.
While choking it, it’ll back fire out the carb and out the exhaust, motor will pop and then it’ll start and run for 5 seconds and shut off.
Choke it and it’ll run for 5 seconds again and shut off.
Choke it, it’ll start and with choke off it’ll run perfectly fine as if nothing is wrong. No back fire, no sputtering.
Driving and with the blades on It runs perfectly fine.
Put the mower in reverse with the blades off it wants to stall out. It does have the safety switch when the blades are on that the engine stalls out.
