I switched to Linux years ago. Tried 10 different distros. Top of list = Linux Lite 6.0, Mint 21.3, Xubuntu 24.04. All 3 are Ubuntu based and easy to transition from Windows. So, it really boils down to what "desktop" (GUI) you prefer. I like XFCE of Xubuntu - an official flavor of Ubuntu w/ 3 years of updates (LTS).

The only complaint I have with the Linux series is one of my clients uses AutoCad in their business (surveying) and Autodesk does not support it on Linux systems (although they do support it on Apple systems).

Wine and Wine Tricks I think it's called. Probably a few more programs that allow you to run Windoze programs on a Linux box. I've never tried AutoCad on Linux. Probably a Linux version of AutoCad out there???

Always the dual boot way as well. Windoze and Linux.

11 has more back door, three letter entitie spying capability added of course.
Run this. This will use the firewall and block them. You can also add in your routing table to direct the names to dev null. Also in browsing, don't use Chrome or Edge as they may have hidden spyware. Use Mosaic or Brave and get the extensions to block trackers, spyware, etc. Personally, I use ublock to block all utube adds- it works...

(right click CMD to run dos in administrator mode)
Set-NetFirewallProfile -all

What the heck. Must be page one of all the back door tricks LOL. Wow.

Where did you get this upandup?

Looks like something I need to load into my PFSense box.

Windoz 11 won't work on my 7 year old Toshiba PC, which came with Win 8hate, which I manually updated to Windozed 10. Remember how much everyone hated 8? So I got 7 years of support out of a $700.00 machine.

In 2020 My wife gave me a hardened water resistant Asus Chromebook, to use for working outside... in the shop, on the boats, and just for fun. Google claims it will support it until June 2029. It works great. I use it far more often that the more expensive, larger Toshiba. It cost $500.00. When it was partially crushed Asus mail order repaired it for $120. It runs everything I use on the PC, including MS Office and apps work just fine.

7 years of support for a $700 MS Windows Toshiba PC.
9 years from a $500 Chrome computer.
Can you guess which company is going to get my money next time?

Just search for "block spyware" and people point out this. I collected these from several docs online. Look up the command, each line is adding a block entry in the firewall. If it was opening ports, then I would not run it.

It's the world of cmd from the old windows. You can do the same thing manually in the Firewall settings.
Good ol' when u have alot of work to do, script\program it.
