Any opinions on Meg-mo Blades? I will need three for my JD 54C deck. They claim they eliminate need for mulching attachments. The overall cost isn't an advantage.

I have never tried them. I do fine with my regular blades.
Some like 'em, some don't. Buy a set and try them on your machine.
They absolutely mulch everything... even in very tall, overgrown grass & weeds... there is almost no discharge... in tall thick stuff, it turns it into a paste like goo...
BUT even a second set, they did a terrible job mowing evenly.
There seems to be a problem of too much??, air flow... they tended to blow the grass down on one side of my deck, it may have been the middle...
definitely not a finish cut ...If it were not for the ridiculous high cost, they would make a very good Rough cut blade set... :smile:KennyV

I know Kenny hasn't had good luck with them, but they work well on my Ventrac with 60" deck. They do a great finish cut and throw clippings farther than any other blades I have used ( in either short or tall grass). They also fold back if you hit anything, just like bush hog blades. From what I have heard, they work great on some decks and poorly on others, They work great for me. I have less luck with the Gator Blades unless it is short dry grass.
I'm wondering if anyone with your same mower and deck can give you any input ????
I think this must be the issue... It has to be the deck design & air flow with the decks....
They are absolutely the best at mulching... If I could have got a good, or even a marginal finish cut with them... I would have been tickled...
The guy that makes them is a great fellow...
I love the design... it's a slight variation of a disk mower blade set up...
My deck does very well with Oregon Gator blades.... :smile:KennyV
Thank you to everyone for responding. I can see that with some decks it works good and with others it doesn't.
