Maximum Ground Speed - How Important?

Back to the OP's question:

Here's how much difference it makes in mowing 3/4 acre with a 6mph mower vs. an 8 mph mower, assuming a 52" deck--3.5 minutes.

And that is assuming that the mower will make an acceptiable cut when travelling at full ground speed.
Most of the mowers that come into the workshop would be lucky to do a proper cut at much more than 1/2 their max ground speed.
There is a lot more to consider like deck efficencies, discharge rate , blade tip speed etc etc etc.

Proper cut? You mean it's not all about just putting down a fresh set of stripes and tire tracks? :laughing:

Most places probably aren't smooth enough to mow above 5 MPH while getting a nice cut.
