It is slightly unusual for the "V" side of a belt to ride on a flat idler pulley. But that may be to compensate for deck cutting height changes. I would leave the idlers in place for the moment.

There may be other part diagrams that can provide clarification.

For the double pulley assembly.... Does it look the same as the one that was taken off? A height difference there could create the problem. Is there a spacer that can be taken out between the pullies to adjust the height of the upper pulley down a little?

If not, that spindle assembly is likely the issue.

The last post to this thread was a week ago, but I just got it in my e-mail this morning, so maybe you already have it solved. But if not, are you 100% sure the belt routing is correct? I've seen this problem caused by a belt that would actually fit the routing 2 different ways. The V side running on an idler makes me suspicious.

Thank You for your input. It is routed per the sticker on the deck. I was puzzled by the "v" riding on the flat as well, I have never seen this done. I will see if I can find an alternate routing.
Thanks
Greg
