no problems with the deck on. I took the deck off still no problems starting . now all of a sudden i have lights and just under 12v but it does not crank. The lights dont dim when i do try and crank it. I held the key in start position and tapped starter with hammer still nothing. looked at wiring took no exceptions looked at ignition switch wiring took no exceptions . It is intermittent more times then not it wont start though it does power up. Im at wits end ANY IDEAS?? Seat safety switch? Break switch switch? As I said when i removed the deck absolutely no problems for a few weeks this happened out of the clear blue and now it is consistant

It is a safety switch problem
One of them is dirty / faulty/ got a bad wire
The brake PTO & gear position switch all stop the engine cranking the others stop the spark and some do both but at different times.

As I recall that model Cub is made my MTD. I have seen in my shop where the PTO switch has gone bad on that model Cub not saying that is your problem?? Check it out first.

If it's under 12 volts it won't crank. Charge it up to 12.5 then try it.
