The JD LA130 I took in on a trade seems to run and cut perfectly until I try to go up an incline...very low power and speed. Is this common with the 100 series as one other user has indicated? Does the transmission require oiling...If so, could this be my problem? I have had the belt replaced thinking that, although it was recently replaced, It may have had the wrong size put on..made no difference....any solutions?

I just recently traded in my 2009 JD LA145 and it had the same issue. I don't think they are serviceable as far as the transaxle goes. They are a sealed unit and start to get weak just before failing.

First thing to do is put the correct belt on. Get the one made for the mower, not just Napa's best guess.

Not to start anything but its not the belt slipping.

On some mowers only the oem belt will work. On your mower a cheap belt of the same size will work just fine.

This mower was built to carry a person under 200 pounds on flat ground with a yard size of half a acre. Bad news IMO is your rearend is going out.
I would like to blame it on JD but alot of brands use this same rear end

OK, so you know this how?

You will advise him on doing what? Buying a new rearend on the prayer that you are right?

If he, ah hell, whatever.

Listen to this guy, it will only cost you $800 or so to see if he is correct!!!

If you ... Ah, forget it.......

How many belts would you like him to pay to have put on?
He did not go to napa and buy a belt. He did not put it on himself as he said I had a new belt put on.

Why would a all most new belt and a new belt be slipping?

Again it is not the belt.
Could be the key on the pulley that lets the pulley slip on the shaft going up hill ( have had it happen )
Could be it has done this for awhile is why someone gave it to him on a trade.

Could it be that only you know everything? No that's not it.

Could it be that many many many many people that have the 130 junk Deere have the same problem? Yes

Could it be that someone did not agree with you? Yes

Maybe he should just keep trying new belts until like magic it works again

No, I just suggested he try the "correct" belt!!!! Which he never has done, eh? If so, ask him the part number.

No he should look at other things and get some other input on it.

But one thing he does know is that it is not the belt.

Maybe he could bleed it like you would on a new one.

And l said in my opinion I think it's going out.

They key words are IN MY OPINION

Your the master mower builder so tell as what it could be if it is not the belt

Two belts still the same problem so we know it is NOT the belt.

In no way was it indicated that he had the correct belt!!!

It could be a idler pulley going bad too.

Who would know on the scant details we have had supplied here, eh?

I have worked in this business a long time, and I know how folks hate spending 10 extra bucks on the correct belt!!!!
