Know of a mower available , says has 600 hours ( is this alot of hours ? ) , needing some engine work and steering won`t steer wheels . Would it be worth looking into or is this machine just about time to call it quits . Person knows nothing about engine problems , just says it has some ????? Steering possibly the tie rod ends ? They won`t speculate on that either . Maybe i just talked myself out of it .....wanting 350.00 for it . oh well , wrote this much , what does anyone think ? Mark

That seems like an OK price, and as for if 600 hours is a lot, it's a moderate amount. Usually you don't want to purchase a mower that has over 1,000 hours, because that is when it can start to have problems. But some mowers have over 2,000 hours, so it really depends how hard the owner used it for those 600 hours.

Sounds like they ran it until they could no longer run it to me. Without looking at it you have no idea. The engine could be locked up or out of gas. The steering could have been in a bad wreck or a tie rod is broken. The tractor could have been shedded or parked under a rain gutter for a year. Only you can determine the worth by looking it over. It could be worth the money just to junk out for the right person. It could be worth nothing to another person.

Maybe if you took pictures of different parts of it, we could decide better.

When I saw "600 hours", I thought to myself, this thing is just broke in. Then again I work mostly with professional landscape businesses who have over 10,000 hours on their machines and are carefully maintained every week. If you know how it was maintained, that you would be able to see by looking at it

That is a good point, but let's face it....most homeowners don't do the amount of maintenance professionals do (and pros do it DAILY)!! But as chance123 said, 600 hours isn't that much!

So it does not run good if at all and has steering trouble and 600 hours on a cub cadet. And they won't really tell you what's wrong
For $350 you can get a mower ready to mow.

Does it have the 27hp kohler? The 600hrs isn't that bad for that engine. I've got a 22 hp with that and it's still running strong. From what you're posting it seems the person who owns it doesn't preform any maintenance and the things that you listed seem to be some what minor. I'd check out the engine and if it runs and doesn't smoke up a storm you mite want to consider the offer and maybe try offering like $200 to start. Worst case you could part it out and get back your money if you could buy it cheap.
