Yes you must be lucky or it is Cub Cadet thing. I even tried shocking the screws and they still break off half the time. But the drive pulley and PTO clutch tend to be rusted on too as Cub doesn't use any anti-seize on the crankshafts.

And Fish that is why buy the 7mm screws by the box full. Also learn how tap the aluminum with taps jamming and breaking; which is a real pain to remove if one breaks off.
Nope...not just a Cub Cadet thing, last time I checked.....they are putting Kohlers on several different brands of mowers and equipment!
