Kill switch doesn’t kill

I have a Bolens 410 tiller. It has a 2 stroke motor. It starts easily but won’t shutoff using the on/off switch. I have tested the switch and the two wires going to the coil. The switch is good and the wires are sound. So, I think the problem is in the coil. But the part is no longer available so I am looking for another way to stop the motor. I can make it stop by fully choking the carb, and I have pulled the spark plug wire off. But is there a way to wire up a kill switch? What if I connected one of the wires to the coil and the other to a ground? Could this damage the coil?

I don’t know what happened but old mowers used to be turned off by shorting out the spark plug with a steel strap. You could remove the rubber boot from the plug wire & attach a metal terminal. I will look for another picture.

The kill wire is broken some where
Get a length of wire, hook it to the coil then start the engine and manually make the ground with your temporary wire .
